Project: Time Capsule
PTC
At Parks Nights 2017 BQF presented Project: Time Capsule. Beneath several housing projects and housing estates across America and Europe, several mysterious time capsules have been unearthed. These time capsules appear to be quantum in nature, displaying the features of retrocausality and entanglement, opening up its contents to influences from both the future(s) and the past(s). Project: Time Capsule was a performative reading that explores the contents of the time capsules, using text, projections, and live sound experimentation with electronics. During the performance, BQF weaved science fiction realities with African diasporic concepts of time, ritual and sound, deconstruct linear temporalities and present temporal technologies that offer practical ways for escaping time loops, oppression vortices and the digital matrix. Temporal technologies are available for the oppressed Black and Brown people isolated in local, progressive linear fatalistic time ghettos that deny access to temporal dimensions outside of the narrow time band of the digitally-mediated present.
